Monarch Larva Sighted

Date: 08/31/2013

Number: 1

Part of our Science Standards includes life cycle of different organisms. For the last 25 years, i always start with the Monarch butterfly life cycle. Ten years ago, My class planted a monarch garden, with lots of perennials and lots of milkweed. It is usually filled with caterpillars each August--this year none. I scoured the fields around my town, my usual spots where i look for caterpillars for my classroom (we do not remove them from our butterfly garden). i usually find dozens--this year i found one after 5 hours of searching!!!
