Sixty Baltimore Orioles were in flight over my house in Frederick County, Maryland on September 4th. It was 7:30 pm, sky was clear, and they were headed northeast but the flock was slightly spaced out, so I guess they were headed to a favorite feeding spot on their way south? Do they layover in different locations on their way down? They appear every spring and nest around our location. I see maybe four or five different mated pairs every spring but nothing like a large migration that we witnessed on Wednesday. It was beautiful. It doesn't hurt being a Baltimore Orioles fan either, Go O's!
