Yesterday, Sept. 6, I cycled to Toronto Islands and checked out the Centre Island ornamental gardens and Hanlan's Point. I also briefly checked a few ornamentals en route to the islands. I tallied a total of 53 Monarchs (the most I've seen this year), 41 of them on the islands which is normally a hot spot for this species in migration. This is just a fraction of what I would normally see there at this time.
