Hummingbird Sighting
Sightings report image

Date: 09/08/2013

Number: 10

Still have several juveniles around...most seem to be males with latent darker feathers developing around the neck,..little stripes, popping dark feathers....they are fat little birds I will say that. Most of my hummers moved from my feeders to my neighbors when I went on vacation, and they never came back. In speaking with my neighbor he said he still has a substantial amount coming, even 12 at a time. I guess they come back to me when the traffic is too heavy to get a sip. My feeders are not filled to the top, I put about a cup in each every day or two and they are emptied. I saw 20-25 visitors yesterday. I don't know how many different birds they were. Im pretty sure in past years the hummers leave here around September 12. Lets see what this year brings.
