Hummingbird Sighting

Date: 09/03/2013

Number: 1

Seven feeders out all summer. Last resident and mature male spotted on 09/03/2013. Last female spotted on 09/11/2013. Yellow Jackets and Bald Face hornets have taken over the feeders. Had no real problems with wasps and hornets this year until after the Hummers had departed. There were fewer Rubies this year: about 75% as many as last year. They consumed about five pounds of sugar per month, and last year the consumption rate was seven pounds per month. Always sorry to see the little fellas head south.
