I am seeing several females at my feeders here in Madison, and at my son's house in Madison, there are two males competing for the nectar. And, although this can become an onerous task with so much feeding going on, I use only boiled sugar-water at both locations because I feel it is far better for the birds than any far-more convenient preparations one can buy, most of which contain preservatives and artificial colors.
