Monarch PEAK Migration

Date: 09/13/2013

Number: 200

I got to the wildlife area where I work around 10am & found
our extensive fields of flowering Maximilian sunflowers holding
surprisingly good numbers of feeding Monarchs! I tagged 25
rather quickly remembering that I only tagged a total of 13
monarchs during the 2012 migration here in NE Kansas. They
all appeared on the north winds of a passing cold front which
came through this area yesterday. I couldn't make it out this
evening to look for their roost, but will give it a shot after I tag
some more tomorrow. We'll update then...:)
