We live about five miles north of Interstate 10. The further north one goes, the hummingbird sightings increase dramatically. We have a bird-friendly landscape, including a hummer's favorite, Porter Weed. We still see maybe only four hummers at any given time.
Two evenings ago I watering my potted hibiscus, when "whew, zoom!" several hummers flew right through the water! So yesterday I visited Wild Birds Unlimited and bought a mister/dripper for our birdbath. It is still hot and dry here.
