Hummingbird Sighting

Date: 09/14/2013

Number: 2

I have seen either 2 females or immatures at my feeders simultaneously or singly for the past couple of days. These birds are migrants. The migrants have to hunt the area to locate and identify the feeders. I may have more than 2 birds but that is the largest number I see at one time. It has been about 10 days since I saw a male (also a migrant.)

I had up to 10 birds at my feeders late this summer simultaneously. I have 4 feeders up still but will be taking down 2 shortly.

Last year the last hummer left around the 20th of this month. I will miss them dearly when they leave. I will be eagerly watching your report map in the spring to await their return.

Tonight the forecast is for lows in the 50's.
