During a ~1,5h walk in Thompson Park, Leslie Spit,Toronto 15 Monarchs observed mainly one by one feeding primarily on Goldenrod, which is widespread in this park among plenty of milkweed. Meanwhile, only a total of 5 Monarchs have been observed on the butterfly bushes in my front yard during the entire Summer of 2013. We used to see between 3-8 Monarchs simultaneously on the butterfly bushes in the front yards most of the afternoon every day from ~mid August to ~mid September.
Will we see any next year?
