Hummingbird Sighting

Date: 09/15/2013

Number: 50

Normanally the peak of the migration is on the 15th of September here in Clarksdale Ms. I put out 20 to 30 feeders each year with up to 200 birds during the peak days. This year things are quite different with considerably fewer birds. All sightings have been Ruby Throats. Occassionally a Rufas is sighted but not so far this year. My highest counts were on the 11th with about 50 birds. It has been quite hot here as well as to the north, which may have disrupted the normal flights. Anyone else having fewer numbers than usual? On this date the numbers appear to have dropped to about 35 with some feeders getting little to no attention. I've been doing this for 9 years and this has me wondering " where are the birds"?
