Hummingbird Sighting
Sightings report image

Date: 09/14/2013

Number: 1

As the warm days grow cooler and the hours of daylight diminishes between sunrise to sunset, so diminishes our daily observation total of seasonal hummingbird visitors. Hearing their distinct cheery chirp makes one smile and the droning hum of their wing beats fills the air, sometimes long in advance before you spot them. Their energetic darting flights and antics amaze and amuse us during the summer months as we unwind and relax at work days end and watch them from the patio. Every year we wait with great anticipation for their return arrival and every fall finds us ruing the next day, for the day past might have been the last day we'll see of them until next season. Hopes are they will window dance a final goodbye to us before they depart or maybe allow us one last memorable fleeting glimpse to tide us over until they once again return next season. Godspeed until then.
