Pam Courtney has been offering monarch tag and release field classes to families in the Milwaukee Community since 2001. For the 2013 monarch migration season, we currently have 47 caterpillars (reared caterpillars from monarch watch.org) that not yet in the chrysalis stage, but will soon be.
Since the monarch populations are low, caterpillar larva are ordered from MonarchWatch.org Classes are offered on location at a milkweed public field ….
FOR: families and students of all ages.
CLASS CONTENT: Class covers the care of the caterpillar, and the tag and release process, and the Amazing Gospel Analogy in the Life Cycle of the Monarch Butterfly. Upon completion of the one-day field day class (Approximately 2.5 hour field trip - on location), Students can TAKE ONE HOME: Students will have the option to take a caterpillar home, to raise, and observe the life cycle to butterfly, then tag and release the butterfly.
