Hummingbird Sighting

Date: 09/17/2013

Number: 1

At 0630 it was 33F degrees. I put the feeders out and within minutes the juvenile male arrived for a drink. He drank for some time then went to the perch. I watched him through the scope. He looked plump, super healthy, and happy. His throat was moving and I'm pretty sure he was chirping. Then off he flew. It was hard to tell exactly which way he went because I was watching him in the scope but I believe in a southerly direction. I did not see him again all day nor did he show up to feed around sunset. I suspect he has continued his Journey South after having has a short 2 day refueling visit (and photo op) here in Bretton Woods, NH.
