Bald Eagle

Date: 09/06/2013

Number: 1

My husband and I were sitting on the beach at Assateague Island when a magnificent bald eagle alit on the sand about 75 feet NNW of our blanket! Through my binoculars I was able to observe it sunning (it had one wing outstretched with feathers splayed) and panting a bit from the heat (its bill was open almost an inch). It remained like this for about five minutes before flying off, much to our surprise and delight!
