Sadly again, I have not seen one monarch in our or my neighbor's 'monarch gardens' in the past seven days. In 23 years this has never happened before, in fact we have probably seen only about 10 monarchs in total throughout the summer. Other butterfly species numbers were not so plentiful this year either. Also for the first time ever, the milkweed plants became infested with aphids, perhaps a sign that there were not larvae to eat them.
