We saw our first fall monarch today at the Blair Outdoor and Environmental Education Centre in Cambridge, Ontario. Mrs. Matessich’s grade 6 class from Brigadoon P.S. was here studying Biodiversity and we were outside doing an invertebrate study. It was a very fresh-looking female, and she was feeding in the field on goldenrod. There were also some common sulphurs and cabbage whites. I introduce all the classes that visit here to the Journey North site and encourage them to become citizen scientists so it was exciting to have them be part of this process.
