Hummingbird Sighting

Date: 09/19/2013

Number: 1

So happy to see a hummer!!! The last one I saw was Sept.3rd ... it was unsettling to think that might have been the last one this season so early. I couldn't tell if his one today was male or female, but it was a good size. It seemed more interested in the New Guinea Impatien hanging basket than in the feeder right next to it, even though the nectar in the feeder was changed yesterday. It was also enjoying sitting on the shepherd hook that holds both the plant and the feeder in between visits to the palnter and the shrubs nearby - the wiegela, sedum and butterfly bushes were happy to oblige this beauty on this wonderful sunny 74 degree day - sun especially welcome after being under a frost advisory two nights ago. Eat well beautiful hummer, and remember me next spring!!
