Hummingbird Sighting

Date: 09/16/2013

Number: 1

A single bird came to my yard after my 2 hummers had been gone for a couple of days. It was a juvenile who obviously had never used a Hummzinger feeder before! It pecked on the top, pecked all the way around the bottom of the perch/rim, inspected the ant moat above it, alighted on a shepherd’s pole, flew up to hover at the sliding glass door, zipped over my head (I was seated on the deck next to the door), and then fed from all remaining blooms on the potted flowers before leaving without sampling the nectar in the feeder.
