Monarch (OTHER Observations)

Date: 09/21/2013

Number: 1

Watched several Monarch butterflies flying and nectaring around our garden this afternoon. Using binoculars, I was able to read the tag on one - it was SCU 093. My records show that this is a reared male that I tagged and released here last Sunday Sept. 15th. Interesting that he is staying in the area instead of heading South.
I also tagged and released 4 Monarchs that I'd reared; tags SLL 554, 555,556,and 557-two females, two males.
Grateful to see 5 to 6 Monarchs flying in the garden today; such beauties. Also found one Buckeye caterpillar - rarer than Monarchs in my gardens this year. Took it in to rear in safety.
