Stepped out onto my back porch during a gentle rain and walked down to see if the potted plants there were getting water, a female hummer flew to the red salvia and began to nectar no more than a foot from my hand. She made her rounds of all the flowers there and was so close I could hear her wings. Probably a female black-chinned. There are others about, but I've not been counting.
