Monarch Fall Roost
Sightings report image

Date: 09/19/2013

Number: 1000

We noticed the dark cloud of butterflies coming in from the North of our property. As they flew in we noticed it was Monarch butterflies. The temperature had suddenly dropped significantly and there were some scattered thunder storms scattering our area. The Butterflies roosted in one of our tall pine trees, seemingly hunkering down until the storms passed. (The storms all missed us) This all occured at dusk. We observed until dark. When we woke in the morning they were gone.
