Hummingbird Sighting

Date: 09/24/2013

Number: 1

Only the 2nd time this year I saw a hummingbird nectaring on the blooms of the butterfly bushes in my front yard in downtown Toronto. It was there for 15-20 min. at the same time a Monarch butterfly was nectaring on the dame bushes, where the blooms left are few and small. The other time I saw a hummingbird in our yard this summer, I only noticed it as it flew by at a very high speed. But some of our neighbors have told us they see hummingbirds quite frequently. Perhaps my very infrequent observation of hummingbirds in our yard it is due to the fact that the color of the hummingbird perfectly match that of the leaves on the butterfly bush.
