Monarch (OTHER Observations)
Sightings report image

Date: 09/24/2013

Number: 6

This is very good news.
There have been late hatching monarchs this week.
I have seen 4 new ones in the past three days.
This afternoon, I saw at least six in a portion of a 20 acre alfalfa field in good bloom.
I suspect there are numbers scattered across Wisconsin and Minnesota that might match what we are seeing here.
I can only hope that temperatures and weather patterns will allow them to migrate successfully. South and southeast winds have kept them pretty much at a standstill. Luckily temps are into the 70s daily.
I am hoping to see a roost tonight, but that remains to be seen.
