Monarch PEAK Migration

Date: 09/24/2013

Number: 50

As we hoped with the NW winds today the monarchs were slowly making their way into Cape May along the dunes. I counted 1 monarch about every minute coming in for about one hour. When I surveyed the gardens around Cape May Point there were clumps of monarchs feeding on English Ivy flowers. Some groups were as big as 40 other ivy had approximately 20, some only 10. It was so nice to see the numbers increase today ((-: And yes, there was a roost found with about 100 monarchs this evening!!!! Happy people in Cape May.
