Hummingbird Sighting

Date: 09/24/2013

Number: 2

We've had up to 6 families all summer; as of last Friday 9/20 there was just an immature and its mom left. The mom kept rising up into the sky, hovering while facing southward, then "chirping" for its young to do the same. The imm. finally imitated and zoomed south a few days ago. The mom seemed to go with him, but then she returned for a few days. She ate everything in sight, "made the rounds" at all her favorite feeders & branches, and would hover in front of me frequently (marking her property, including me?). She finally went south yesterday morning; that's all of "our" birds, but we'll keep the feeders up awhile longer for any passers-thru. I'd give anything to know her location in the winter!
