it is on private property with a collection of cottages among a high canopy. This property is deemed certified habitat.
The is silver maple, siberian elm, dogwood, and red mulberry.
There were only 6 Monarchs including 3 smaller males on the silver maple at 9:00 AM today.
All were gone by noon. The Helianthus flowering in the yard attracted two Monarchs that were flying towards the beach (Pigeon Bay Lake Erie) at 2 PM).
Over the next hour I found four more Monarchs flying through Seacliff Park and in gardens along the eastern edge of the Park. I photographed one in my yard at the top of the street, on Helianthus again. Driving along County Rd 33, I spotted another six monarchs at ca 5PM , all flying to the SW.
Daily total 19 individuals.
I also checked twelve milkweed plants (hundreds have now spouted up in the development lands), at Seneca Rd but found no caterpillars (and spotted no adults flying) at 4:40 PM.
