Hummingbird Sighting

Date: 09/27/2013

Number: 3

I still have 3 and likely will for a few more days. None have put on their migration fat, yet. Warm here since wed.upper 70's . It reached 80 today. winds SE @ 7 to 10 mph. Low 58 tonight. Same for tomorrow. The first one arrives at feeder at 7:11, shortly after daybreak. The last half hour before it gets dark, the little warriors settle down, and perch at the feeders. Sometimes two at the same feeder. All three are immatures, 2 are females. One is a young male, no red spots yet but the head feathers cover the head and below the eye. Dark spots under throat more pronounced. Not many wildflowers in bloom still. They will have to depend on feeders and the backyard blooms. Still finding tiny spiders when I flush out the feeders. So they do have incests.
