This is the South side of the lake, right next to the dam. There is a border of cowpen daisies growing on the edge of the drop off that leads to a beach area. And in past years prior to the drought, we have seen upwards of 50 monarchs nectaring on these daisies and sunflowers in the area. last year there were NONE, and no flowers either due to the drought. This year, we counted 21 butterflies. 10 at this site directly, and 11 crossing the dam as we drove on Stanley Draper Lake drive to get there from the previous site. We visited there about 3 PM and only stayed about 45 minutes.
