A total of approximately 200 monarchs seen in scattered small clusters in pecan and other trees at South Adams Park in El Reno, Oklahoma on Sept. 27, 2013 at 4:40pm - a day of steady brisk winds from the South and high temperatures (88-90 degrees F in the afternoon) - a combination which tends to motivate the butterflies cluster in the shade during the afternoon heat. The specific wooded area I am referring to is located at the western end of Park Drive
in El Reno 35.534859 -97.981218 Here is a 3 minute video of some of the clusters I saw plus footage of some individual butterflies nectaring on the maximilian sunflowers in the park. This area of the park was formerly a pecan nut tree orchard and a several dozen of pecan trees are still standing.
