Sightings report image

Date: 09/30/2013

Number: 8

The weather at Clearville Park has been warm and dry with light winds for the past few days. This weather pattern is expected to hold until October 5. Today is the best day of the migration season so far at Clearville Park. It started out slow this morning but this afternoon I was observing about 8 monarchs every 10 minutes- all flying along the Lake Erie shore in a south-westerly direction toward Pt. Pelee where the butterflies cross the lake to Ohio. Some dropped down to nectaring flowers. I took a photo of a monarch nectaring on New England Aster.
