Monarch Adult Sighted

Date: 10/02/2013

Number: 1

Greetings from Virginia's Eastern Shore! Sadly, I have seen no monarchs other than the 3 I observed early in the season...(already reported) It was near this time last year that I was lucky enough to observe a wonderful peak migration on Assateague Island nectaring on goldenrod. If they arrive there now, no one will be able to see them, as the Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge is closed due to the shutdown! I am so disappointed, because of the lack of Monarchs this season anyway, but was hoping to catch some from Cape May in these next weeks. First time in about 20 years I've not had the fun of observing , raising and releasing! So sad!
