Monarch Adult Sighted
Sightings report image

Date: 09/29/2013

Number: 8

While visiting Lighthouse Point park in New Haven, I saw at least 8 Monarch butterflies (possibly more, but not confident that they weren't re-sightings of the same individuals). Six were nectaring on Butterfly Bushes at the Monarch Waystation garden in the park, a few of them occasionally visiting goldenrod and asters in the nearby Audubon at Home Healthy Habitat; 2 were seen flying overhead, heading south. None of the six nectaring were tagged; at least 2 females, 1 male in the group; couldn't get close enough to confirm gender of the others. Sunny day with temps in the upper 70s or higher, and several people were enjoying observing the lovely winged visitors.
So happy to see the Monarchs while visiting family here in CT, and especially glad to have the opportunity to share the Monarch magic with my relatives.
