old farm houses and building removed, leaving pine, spruce and other horticultural trees to grow to their limits. Lawn area is weedy wit daisy fleabane, goldenrod and aster. Road maintenance only cuts adjacent area.
10m up in the trees were 12 monarchs roosting on the east side of upper parts of these trees — and one hummingbird as the sun was setting!
I watched 2 new arrivals in the twilight circling the tops of these trees and joining them on the side opposite the setting sun.
Total monarchs thus 14 (may be undercounting)
