Late flow - day 9 (Oct 3). Cloudy, rainy with bursts of wind this morning so monarch activity is a zero but should pick up later in the day.

The numbers of monarchs in the garden and feeding on the flowers in front of the building were quite good throughout the day with combined numbers ranging from 20-35.

A loose cluster of >20 monarchs formed on a Japanese maple in front of MW at the end of the day (10/02). This was a first for two reasons - I had never seen a cluster by the building before and this is the first cluster I've ever seen in KS in October. Clustering generally peaks here around the 16th of Sept with few clusters seen after the 25th. The fact that Todd M also spotted a cluster not far from here last evening suggests that good numbers of monarchs are still moving through this part of KS - albeit later than such numbers have been seen previously.
