Monarch Adult Sighted
Sightings report image

Date: 10/05/2013

Number: 1

Single adult (female?) showed up alongside path at county conservation park. There's not much food left there. Most nectar flowers have gone to seed. This adult alighted briefly on one of the few still blooming milk thistles, then flitted away and out of sight. Later, I believe I saw the same butterfly as it crossed the path again and flew up the hill and over the fence onto the runway of a local airfield.

I could not believe my eyes when I saw this Monarch. I had already hiked in to the park and was returning in resignation when this gal (?) caught my eye. (They have an uncanny way of doing this, eh?)
