Hummingbird Sighting

Date: 10/06/2013

Number: 1

Seven days have passed since my last sighting of two hummers, pausing long enough to briefly rest and refuel for their continued southward journey. Today, after work at 7pm I chose to venture around the house to the patio area to enter the back door and much to my surprise I spotted a lone female traveler enjoying long sips of 2:1 water sugar nectar. She flew to the nearest tree and returned to the feeder once I was out of sight. She made three more flights to the feeder before disappearing in the still densely leaved tree. Possibly overnighting until tomorrow morning, which I shall miss due to leaving for work in the dark. However should she do so, she will find a fresh 2:1 mixture awaiting her and any others whom might yet pass this way. With yet another smile she created for me to hold in reserve for the winter months ahead, I have to say I'm satisfied that she may be my last 2013 sighting. It been a GREAT 2013 Hummingbird season. Catch you all next season! Unless .......
