Monarch PEAK Migration
Sightings report image

Date: 10/07/2013

Number: 40

There was a major uptick in the number of Monarchs today! A cold front with rain passed through Saturday night, and as expected, the numbers jumped after the front passed and the sun came out. There were around 40 in the garden this afternoon, mainly nectaring on Frostweed which is in full bloom right now. A few on Gregg's Mistflower, but they shun everything else - no Goldenrod (in full bloom now), no Mexican Milkweed, nor Liatris - just Frostweed please! By far, when in bloom, the greatest Monarch plant ever.
