Sightings report image

Date: 10/08/2013

Number: 10

The numbers are down now to just the stragglers - young just finding their way. On Sunday morning just after a nice cool front passed through we estimated ~100 swarming the feeders. By 10:00am they were all gone but ~12. Watching the count we find....

There is still lots of territorial feeder protection going on even with the small number passing through. Most appear to be female and sub-adult males. There are no mature males among them. I'm wondering if the Rufous will come back and over winter here. The image is of a sub-adult male Ruby.
