Monarch Adult Sighted

Date: 10/08/2013

Number: 1

This morning at 10am I watched a monarch just north of Toronto (Richmond Hill) It flew from behind the car I was driving, then over it, then in front of me. The temperature was 9 degrees C (just under 50F)

It looked like a drunken sailor, lumbering just above, then in traffic, somehow managing to make it to the south side of the road without being hit. No soaring, just a slow flutter.

I'm thinking it had been in a sunny, sheltered spot and took off, not realizing how cold it was.
