Hummingbird Sighting

Date: 09/25/2013

Number: 1

The last hummingbird was sighted on September 25, 2013 at my window feeder in the morning. Previous to that there had been visits of both sexes every hour and every day with some individuals fighting with others to get the sugar water. Since I set up the window feeder in April I have had constant sightings with an increase in August and September ( about 10 an hour). Among the last migrators, there was a male hummingbird who was caught in my garage on September 20th. After removing the car and trying to encourage him to leave with food, I had to call "Wildlife in Crisis", a local animal rehab group as it appeared to be getting weaker and still seemed too confused to leave on his own. The rescuer was able to net him and take him back to the rehab center to be fed, as he seemed to be getting weaker by the minute. I kept the garage closed after that.
