Late flow - day 15. Great day again. Octobers are getting warmer but more on that at another time. The wind from the SW picked up yesterday afternoon and may have slowed those monarchs wanting to get out of town. Clear skies, temp 64- rising to 76 with winds from the SE (about 160 degrees) at 7mph. At least 20 monarchs around the building and in the garden at 10:20AM. This is really late to be seeing this many monarchs at this latitude. The 4th is the end of the migration window here (sun angle at 47 degrees) and the 8th is usually the last day when one can count on finding more than a few monarchs in the field in an hours search. Two monarchs sailed by my west facing window as I wrote this note. The high temperatures for the week will range from 4-12 degrees above normal. Overall, the conditions are favoring these late migrants.
