Monarch Larva Sighted

Date: 10/10/2013

Number: 1

I found a late egg on the 5th and brought it in. It's now a 3rd instar. The previous 5 eggs or early instars all succumbed to some strange process of turning brown, folding over and leaking away fluids, but it wasn't tachinid flies. Two days after the one successful pupa had formed it turned brown. So this late egg was placed in a different plastic container, despite the previous lettuce box have been new.
