Tulips PLANTED

Date: 10/09/2013

Number: 1

Third graders at Bannockburn School in Bannockburn, Illinois, planted tulip bulbs on a beautiful Wednesday morning. The temperature was 65 degrees, and there was a slight breeze. We planted red emperor tulips in a 4x6 foot garden on the south side of our school. We also planted a few bulbs with some mold on them as an experiment. We had the entire garden covered with chicken wire to keep the critters out. We are wondering how the mold will affect the tulip growth. We made sure to properly mark our bulbs by student and mark the bulbs with mold. Some wonderings we have include: How will the earthworms affect our bulbs? When will they sprout? How many of our bulbs will grow? Will any critters enjoy the bulbs as a snack?
