Today was a good Monarch day at Clearville Park. Temp 68, sunny, light winds. Weather is expected to hold for next 5 days and get warmer each day. A steady stream of Monarch butterflies flying at tree top height SW along the Lake Erie coast towards Pt. Pelee. Starting at 11:00 AM I counted 140 butterflies per hour flying through the park. This increased to about 220 per hour by 1:00 PM and continued without stop until 5:00 PM when I was still counting 140 per hour. By 5:00 PM butterflies were dropping out of the sky to roost in trees throughout the park. We have not yet had a frost. Nectar sources are not in as good a condition as last week. Still some asters available for nectar.
