On Oct.8-11,2013,we have had a little male ruby-throated hummer who appears to have been through some type of trauma. His green back feathers are all twisted, matted together, and sticking up and at odd angles. Over all, he presents a very rough appearance, so much so that we have named the poor little fellow, "Rough Boy." He seems to be eating and flying normally. We have 10 hummer feeders out and many flowers around our home. Hopefully, he will be able to feed and rest before continuing his journey south. We have never observed a male here in central Missouri this late. We also have two other hummers who are either young or females.
