Monarch PEAK Migration
Sightings report image

Date: 10/10/2013

Number: 150

Monarchs were on the liatris patches near the house as densely as previous days. ¶ Visited large grove at 1400. Temp mid 70’s. Brisk south wind, gusty. More humid than yesterday. ¶ On the way to the grove Monarchs on all liatris areas, but seemed less dense than yesterday. Especially to upwind direction. They are hard to see as they align with wind, wings folded, on the opposite side of flower. See image which shows the spotting challenge. ¶ Still many monarchs flying and perching in the grove, perhaps more than earlier near sunrise. ¶ I will send video link later.
