Hummingbird Sighting (Adult Male)

Date: 10/11/2013

Number: 2

Our precious couple, boy and girl, are back to our feeders and butterfly weeds today. They had abandoned us, whether due to rain about a week and a half ago or because of a subsequent cold front which took away our lovely heat. (For a while after the rain, they had been focusing on the white flowers on the Mexican orchid trees [butterfly trees]in the backyard. But these trees have started their own hibernation now.) However, today they're back to our feeders in sunny 91 degree temperature. They're cheerfully chattering and chirping away and swooping back and forth, going about their business of feeding. The little girl looks so small and petite. We hope they won't have to migrate too far.
