Monarch PEAK Migration
Sightings report image

Date: 10/11/2013

Number: 80

We're still under peak migration here in Dallas. The Goldenrod has finally bloomed enough that the Monarchs are interested. While not the greatest picture, I got lucky and caught a Monarch in flight just before it landed on the flower head. I thought it was interesting to see the wings completely flapped forward and the body hanging behind. I never knew their wings flapped forward like this since in real time, it's impossible to see this happening.
