Monarch Adult Sighted

Date: 10/11/2013

Number: 1

After having seen 3 adults earlier this afternoon, I was very surprised to see a lone adult on our butterfly bush at this late hour (5:40 p.m.). All other daytime butteflies and moths had retired for the evening, which also made this an unusual siting. The monarch stayed only 5 minutes before departing in a south-westerly direction. Temperatures today here in central Illinois topped out over 80 degrees.
